Cruising British Columbia

Gibson's Landing, Howe Sound, BC
On our voyage north from Vancouver we encountered a problem with the boat's transmission. We radioed Gibson's Landing Harbor Authority and they made room for us at their dock. They called a mechanic and within 20 minutes he was adjusting the shaft and transmission flange. As an additional precaution he recommended a diver look at the propeller shaft, zincs and the rudder. Within 1 hour the diver determined that all was well below the water line. We will not know if the problem is solved until we are underway and can run the engine up to 2800 RPM.The winds were blowing 40 knots on Georgia Strait so we decided to stay 2 additional days and explore the quaint village of Gibson's. We enjoyed the Sunday Market full of homemade crafts and listened to music reminiscent of Santa Cruz in the 60's. We bought fresh prawns from a shrimp boat and sauteed them in garlic, virgin olive oil and wine. We made friends with some of the dock characters and enjoyed the breathtaking scenery.
